Kirk-Tran

Partner Agencies

Kirk-Tran is the public transit service for the City of Kirksville. This service is a cooperative effort between the City of Kirksville, OATS, Inc., the Missouri Department of Transportation, the Federal Transit Administration, the Adair County SB-40 Developmental Disability Board, and United Way of Northeast Missouri. Kirk-Tran is operated by OATs, which are contracted to use their buses, drivers, and office staff to provide transportation services Monday through Saturday.

Demand-Response System

Kirk-Tran uses a demand-response system where point-to-point riders are scheduled in advance by calling the dispatch center. This system operates Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Call 1.800.654.6287 to schedule a ride. Fare - $3.00 per one-way trip anywhere within Kirksville city limits; $4.00 per one-way trip outside of Kirksville city limits within a 15-mile radius of Downtown Kirksville. Children under 12 years of age, accompanied by a parent or guardian, ride free of charge.

Kirk-Tran Deviated Fixed Route

The Deviated Fixed Route operates Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Friday until 9:00 pm, and Saturday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and includes the stops listed in the "Kirk-Tran Deviated Fixed Route" link below. The route repeats this schedule every hour. Times may vary by ten minutes before or after the scheduled time. Fare - $3.00 per one-way trip. Purchase a Punch Card for $20 from a Deviated Fixed Route driver or the Finance Department counter at City Hall. You must have exact change for fares or to purchase a punch card. Children under 12 ride free and must be accompanied by an adult.

Kirk-Tran is a Deviated Fixed Route bus service. This means that passengers who cannot get to a bus stop can request to be picked up and dropped off up to ¾ of a mile off the bus route, in addition to boarding the bus at the specified stops listed on this bus schedule. The pickup and drop-off locations are at the curb. Reservations must be made the day before by calling 1.800.654.6287.

Starting June 1, 2026, the Adair County Health Department, Adair County Public Library, NEMO Senior Citizens Services Center and Industrial Park will have stops. The map and schedule here will be updated closer to when that will begin.
